Stress coaching with Uma Gamdrup: Find calm, overview and energy again

Do you feel like everyday life is running away from you and that your mind never really gets a break? Then you are far from alone. Many Danes experience periods of too much pressure at work, at home or both at once. With stress coaching you get the space to slow down, understand what is stressing you out, and find concrete steps you can use tomorrow.

Stress coaching is a structured and forward-looking form of conversation. You get a fixed framework where, together with your stress coach, you can sort through your thoughts, spot your patterns and learn new ways to handle pressure. The goal is not that you should have a life completely free of pressure. The goal is that you get tools to feel your limits in time and take action before you run out of energy.

My name is Uma Gamdrup, and I am a stress coach with 27 years of experience helping people navigate stress and challenging periods in their lives. With me, there are no clichés and no standard solutions. We take your life, your situation, and your pace as our starting point.

Do you know the signs of stress?

Stress manifests itself differently from person to person. Some of the most common signals are:

  • You sleep poorly or wake up tired, even after a full night in bed
  • You have difficulty concentrating or remembering appointments
  • You are more easily irritated or emotional than usual
  • You experience headaches, tension in your neck and shoulders, or stomach problems
  • You withdraw from friends, family, or things you usually enjoy
  • You can’t relax when you have time off.

If you recognize several of the signs and they have lasted for several weeks, it is wise to act early. The sooner you act, the easier it is to reverse the trend.

What can you expect from stress coaching?

A course is always tailored to you, but most courses follow the same common thread:

  3. Tools. You will learn practical methods for prioritizing, speaking up, creating breaks, and calming the body and mind.
  4. Anchoring. We translate it into new habits in your everyday life, so that the change lasts, even when things get busy again.

Between the conversations you will be given small, realistic exercises so that you quickly notice a difference.

Stress coaching or treatment with a doctor and psychologist?

It is important to know the difference. Stress coaching is not treatment and does not replace medical help. If you have symptoms such as persistent anxiety, deep depression, palpitations, intrusive thoughts, or thoughts of harming yourself, you should contact your own doctor or the emergency medical service at 1813 (Capital Region) or your region’s emergency medical service. In case of acute danger, call 112.

Many people find that coaching works well as a supplement to the help of a doctor or psychologist, but it is best to discuss this with them.
